Rounding Up 2024 | BSI PAS2161: Timelines
December 2024
WDM has actively participated in the BSI/ DfT lead work on the development of PAS2161 throughout 2024. Work has included submitting data to, and involvement in the Steering Group drafting the PAS2161 standard. Through this work WDM has an understanding of the requirements of PAS2161 as a data collector and data processor. WDM are waiting on the development of the ‘demonstration’ process to refine and develop their initial solutions submitted for the study network.
The study network anonymises the individual submissions from survey companies; however, WDM’s two submissions are G and N, both of which compared favourably with the Engineers reference data set. These were derived from surveys carried out using the existing Road Assessment Vehicles (RAV) and processed in WDM PMS.
NI 130-01: Red, Amber, Green
WDM is committed to providing both backward and forward compatibility, so authorities will be able to process data using 130-01/ 13-02 weighting sets as well as a PAS2161 weighting set. Since the study network was published in April 2024, there have been refinements in the definition of condition categories 1 - 5 under PAS2161. WDM are looking to use existing condition data from SCANNER supplemented by additional bespoke measures to better report to PAS2161, but also to retain the established condition reporting regime. This relies on the functionality of WDM PMS to undertake PAS2161 ‘data processing’ functions.
PAS 2161: Bands 1 to 5
WDM PMS will also enable the import of data that meets the PAS2161 file format requirements.
