The Facts and the Friction

A predictive maintenance programme that could end the plague of potholes on UK roads will be one of the key topics discussed at the ‘Facts and The Friction’ conference in Scotland next month.

W.D.M. Limited, which has developed the programme, is supporting the 'Facts & Friction' event alongside the Road Surface Treatment Association (RSTA) and the WJ Group.

The Conference is aimed at delegates from Scottish local authorities and transport services and will be held in Perth on 19th April, 2023.

The WDM® predictive maintenance system utilises data analysis tools and techniques to identify potential problems on the road surface before they occur. It is designed to help local authorities and save time, money and reduce their carbon footprint by maintaining their roadways more efficiently.

By identifying potential problems before they occur, clients are helped to schedule maintenance activities to extend the lifespan of roadways, ultimately reducing carbon footprint.

This is the second Conference in the ‘Facts and The Friction’ series and will have a full programme of presentations across every aspect of the roads sector, including the implementation of skid policy and designing for skid resistance.

Other topics include the choice of materials and surface treatments. the use of high friction surfacing, retexturing and local authorities’ legal responsibilities for maintaining their networks.
