PAS 2161: Road Condition Monitoring for English Local Authorities | W.D.M. Information Session

With the Department of Transport’s proposed implementation of a new road condition monitoring standard, BSI PAS 2161: Road Condition Monitoring  which involves new road conditions categorisation, the team at WDM will be working alongside our customers to discuss how to implement the new standard and the expected impact.

The new standards will only apply to English authorities, and will replace the Red/ Amber/ Green reporting based on RAV surveys, are currently being developed by a BSI lead steering group which includes representatives from the industry and other stakeholders such as ADEPT, RCMG and a number of local authorities.

PAS 2161: Road Condition Monitoring is likely to be the biggest change to road condition survey standards for over a decade, and it is set to transform road condition monitoring data collection  reporting. We have undertaken surveys on a ‘Study Network’ in Surrey, managed by TRL, in which RAV data proved to be robust and accurate, in comparison with other data collection methods.

We will keep you fully updated with developments of PAS 2161 and how we can support you. To start the conversation we are inviting all of our customer to an in-person user group in April.

The event is aimed at our PMS, Surveying and Consultancy customers, however anyone who is interested in learning more is welcome to join the half day workshop in Bristol, to find out more.

The focus on BSI PAS 2161 (Publicly Available Specification) will aim to update our customers on what it is, proposed updates, what it means for your work and how WDM can help to support the new standard.
