See beneath the surface
Understand the full pavement structure, not just visible wear

Deflectograph Surveys are conducted using a specialist vehicle that measures maximum deflection every 4 metres along each wheel path. By travelling slowly at 2.5 km/h, the survey captures close-spaced data that reveals even short sections of structural weakness.
Though measurements are taken at the surface, they reflect the deflection of all underlying layers-providing true insight into the pavement’s structural performance and future resilience.
A smooth road doesn’t always mean a strong one. Deflectograph Surveys measure structural strength by detecting how the road deflects under a known load. This allows authorities to understand the condition of every layer of the pavement-surface, bound layers, and subgrade-so they can plan strengthening works proactively and cost-effectively.
Used for over 30 years across the UK, this method remains essential for identifying weakness, forecasting residual life, and building accurate long-term maintenance strategies.

With decades of experience delivering Deflectograph Surveys to national and local networks, WDM provides more than just data-we deliver confidence. Our team of experienced operators, engineers, and data specialists help you interpret results, design treatments, and embed strength data into long-term strategies.
Whether you’re maintaining heavily trafficked roads or planning future resurfacing works, WDM’s structural data helps you act decisively.

Whether you’re assessing structural capacity, forecasting lifespan, or planning overlay treatments, our team can help you interpret the data and shape the right strategy.
