By measuring how much the road surface deflects under a rolling wheel, it provides accurate insight into the strength and remaining life of carriageways – enabling preventative maintenance, avoiding costly repairs, and ensuring user safety.
The temperature-corrected data, combined with established pavement design methods, enables engineers to estimate residual life, calculate overlay thicknesses, and design effective maintenance strategies.

Efficient, effective, pavement condition analysis
- Operates at 2.5 km/h, covering 15–20 km per day
- Dual deflection beams mounted on a common reference frame
- Measures both wheel paths under standardised loading (6–10 tonnes)
- Produces deflection readings at ~4m intervals
- Measuring frame hydraulically lifted between points to ease operation
