TRB - Paving the way to Safer Roads
January 2019
There was an enthusiastic reception for WDM USA’s inaugural attendance at the Transportation Research Board (TRB) 98th Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C. with enquiries from Federal, State and Local levels about the continuous measurement of wet pavement surface friction.
WDM USA was joined by W.D.M. Limited, from Bristol, and more than 13,000 transportation professionals from around the world at the convention and exhibition.
The meeting program featured more than 5,000 presentations in nearly 800 sessions and workshops, addressing topics of interest to policy makers, administrators, practitioners, researchers, and representatives of government, industry, and academic institutions.
Highway engineers and safety professionals concerned with roadway departures, skid-related fatalities, and the challenges of maintaining rural and low-volume roads met with WDM to discuss the advantages of continuously measuring wet pavement skid resistance. WDM showcased its newest SCRIM® road survey vehicle – rated ‘exceptional’ by the Federal Highway Administration – which is available for survey services in the US beginning Summer 2019.
WDM USA also demonstrated the TM2 texture meter, which measures pavement macrotexture, and their Pavement Management software program, which delivers a complete highway asset management system and big data management capabilities.
The Company flagged the 6th International Safer Roads Conference, in Richmond, Virginia, from May 12-14, 2020, which will bring together highway professionals from around the globe to share best practices that deliver safer roads and save lives.
