Bridging the Gap in Scotland

Bridge engineers from all over Scotland will be attending the W.D.M. Limited Structures Management User Group meeting in Perth, on the 31st of October.

The bridge engineers convene twice a year, to learn about the latest software developments and information systems developed and updated by WDM to help them manage their structural assets.

All of the attending engineers use elements of WDM®’s Structures Management System (SMS) software to plan and schedule maintenance and inspections.

The Structures Management System can operate either as a standalone module or as part of the WDM® integrated infrastructure asset management system. This links data about road and highway conditionwith accidents, structures, customer services, inventory, routine road & pavement maintenance, works orders, street works and street lighting. Applications use server-based technology to deploy modules using client and web browser interfaces.

Bridges Scotland Conference 2017

WDM®will also be exhibiting at the inaugural Bridges Scotland Conference, on the 1st and 2nd of November 2017, at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh.

Bridges are a major priority for highway authority structure engineers and their private sector partners. Bridges Scotland is seeking to mirror the success of its English counterpart, the Bridges conference which WDM® attended back in January, and become the definitive forum for all issues relating to bridge management, maintenance, policy, strategy and funding.

The Scottish Bridges conference, which runs alongside Road Expo Scotland, will focus on delivering a number of informative sessions, detailing all the latest thinking via technical sessions and case studies for all those involved with the planning, design, construction and maintenance of bridges.

WDM® will be showcasing their Structures Management System (SMS) module, which enables engineers to create structure types (e.g. bridges) and break them down into spans, as well as plan inspections, produce performance indicators and asset valuations.
